Trip details

Trolling trips are a great way to cover water and target a wide variety of sportfish in our waters—you never know what’s going to bite! We typically run two planers to get baits down 60–80 feet, along with four surface lines using a mix of artificial lures and bait. It’s common on trolling trips to switch things up for a bit, like transitioning to kite fishing or bottom fishing, depending on the conditions. Trolling gives us the ability to cover a lot of ground and scout the ocean throughout the day. We aim to be ready for anything and adapt to whatever the day brings. In the early winter months of November, December we do a lot of kite fishing and trolling for sailfish, wahoo, blackfin tunas, and king mackerel. We also do a lot of bottom fishing for big amberjacks and fishing for snapper and grouper species before the grouper season closes January 1. The midwinter months of January and February have us doing lots of live baiting and kite fishing as we enter our prime sailfish season. We have great king mackerel fishing this time of year and the wahoo bite is great on full moons. This is usually not a great time of year for bottom fishing, but it is a great time to catch big sharks on wrecks. Spring months of March - May is usually the best time of year where everything we do is great! We mix it up with kite fishing, live baiting, trolling, and bottom fishing. This is our prime sailfish season, the wahoo fishing is great on full moons, the blackfin tuna is great, and the mahi mahi start showing up. Grouper season opens May 1 and we start to do a lot of bottom fishing when this comes. The Summer months are the calmest seas of the year and the best time of year to fill the freezer. This is our prime season for mahi mahi run and gun schools of them offshore. We also do a lot of live bait chumming around reefs and will catch snappers, grouper, blackfin tunas. bottom fishing. Yellowtail Snapper fishing is very popular this time of year. The fall is another stretch of very calm seas and is a fantastic time to fish with cooler air temperatures. Highlights during these months are high speed trolling for wahoos and sight fishing shallow water for sailfish, mahi mahi, african pompano, and more during our fall bait runs down the coast.
