Trip details

The Etowah River is some of the most beautiful water in Georgia. We fish the section below Lake Allatoona, which is very similar to the section we fish below Morgan Falls on the Chattahoochee River. This river runs north, eventually into Alabama, which is quite unusual. It offers some of the most stunning waters we fish, with scenery that resembles Montana, featuring lots of rolling hills. We target these fish using 8wt rods with sink-tip lines and a tippet of about 18 inches of 20lb fluorocarbon. We’ve caught fish up to 40 pounds, so be prepared for a battle! We fish a mix of creek mouths, undercut banks, and deeper holes. This is all subsurface streamer fishing with shad-imitating patterns.
