Trip details
If you want to target the most wary and technical fish in the canals with a surface fly, then I would highly recommend chasing grass carp with me. These fish average 10-15Lbs and you always have the chance to hook one over 30! They will max out at nearly 60 Lbs and we target these fish with top water surface flies 95% of the time. These are fish that will often give you a single shot per fish. Long fluorocarbon leaders help in the taking of these fish. We use 6-8 Wt fly rods depending on the size of the fish. In a single day guided trip, I will bring you to a location where we will usually see many grass carp! We will usually be able to catch a few peacock bass as well if you are interested in that. Once the carp are hooked, hang on! These fish have impressive stamina and will take you straight into the backing at times. Tips for these trips are again recommended at 15-20% of the cost, but not required.
