Coastal Steelhead Trip

Our coastal fisheries offer the perfect blend of stunning scenery and the potential for trophy steelhead. These fisheries can be quite temperamental, as they depend heavily on water conditions. When the right combination of turbidity, flow, and safety conditions align, that’s when the magic happens! These coastal rivers are the big leagues of fishing. The techniques required here are far more technical than our other Northern California fisheries, making them best suited for hardcore and experienced anglers. We typically fish with large egg patterns under indicators, and we’ll use either conventional or fly gear. It’s a truly special fishing experience! Once you hook one, it’s considered good luck! We use heavy lines, 8-weight rods, and do everything we can to control these big, incredibly powerful fish. We also offer spey trips and are happy to accommodate any preferences. We run trips on our coastal rivers from January 1st to March 31st. These trips give you the chance to land a true winter steelhead, weighing up to 20 pounds, fresh out of the ocean. The first rains in mid-to-late December bring them in, and these are big, powerful ocean fish that move in and out of the rivers quickly.
