Spring / Summer Topwater Fishing

Summer fishing is a great time in the Middle Chesapeake bay. You never know what you may catch, whether it be a hungry striped bass, a trophy speckled trout, or a drag peeling red drum. This time of year, we are focusing on shallow water, fishing structure and points. It is an absolute blast watching one of these species explode on a topwater plug! Whether a new or seasoned angler, this never gets old! Our favorite way to fish in the summer is by using topwater lures at sunrise and sunset. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a hungry striped bass blow your lure out of the water cast after cast. Once the sun is higher we focus on casting small soft plastics and crank baits around shallow structure. This is a blast as you never know when when you'll feel that thump!
