Hunt details
With our abundance of water and the natural navigation migrating waterfowl use the Great Lakes for, we can have some amazingly diverse waterfowl hunts. Not only do we see Mallards and Teal, but also Goldeneyes, Redheads, Greater Scaup (aka Bluebills) and even the occasional Canvasback and Pintail. Late season most always ensures the diver species on the Bays. Types of Hunt: By Kayak: Kayaks are sit-on-tops from Diablo Paddlesports, a company that designs their crafts specifically for hunting and flyfishing and are stable for any hunter to shoot from. By Boat: This option is by boat on either a river or lake. Setup will either be in a boat blind or land blind. We use floating techniques and setups with decoys depending upon the behavior of the birds. Field Layout Blinds: These hunts are unique and only possible during certain times of the season when we have birds in our fields. If they are a possibility when you book, or as we get closer to the date of your hunt, your guide will let you know of this option. Hawkins Outfitters is the only Orvis-endorsed outfitter in Michigan and offers many different options for chasing upland and waterfowl species. Whether it is grouse and woodcock over stylish English Setters or waterfowl on the rivers, inland lakes or Lake Michigan, you are sure to enjoy a day afield that you won’t soon forget.
